according to Mikao Usui
The word Reiki consists of two Japanese words – Rei, which means “God’s wisdom or the Higher Power,” and Ki, which means “Life Force Energy.” So Reiki is actually “spiritually guided life energy”. It is often translated as Universal Life Energy.
In the common doctrine within the Reiki community, it is assumed that this universal life energy is present everywhere around us. The Reiki energy has a harmonizing and beneficial effect on the recipient’s system.
Healing by laying on of hands has been known for millennia and in many cultures. The Japanese Mikao Usui developed in 1922 his system of natural healing that is known as Usui Reiki Ryoho. By means of an initiation technique, the inner healing channels are opened. This allows humans to connect permanently with the Reiki energy and to pass it on to themselves, as well as to other persons. The Usui system originally consists of three degrees.
While in other countries, e.g., in the United States and the United Kingdom, there is already a broad-based collaboration between classical medicine and energy medicine, especially with Reiki practitioners, so this collaboration in Germany is just beginning.
Reiki treatments have a holistic effect on body, mind and soul.
Reiki can e.g.
– stimulate the body’s self-healing powers
– regenerate and harmonize the energy level
– help reduce stress and tension
– cause deep relaxation
– dissolve energy / emotional blockages
– balancing body, mind and soul
– support the immune system
– be a wonderful accompaniment and support in medical and naturopathic therapy procedures, as well as a process-oriented accompaniment in different phases of life
There are many different Reiki systems today, as each master teaches the system in his own way. Even Usui continued to develop his system between 1922 and 1926. Insofar, there is not something like the “original Reiki by Dr. med. Usui ” or ” traditional Usui-Reiki „.
Mikao Usui discovered in the course of his work with Reiki that disease symptoms first disappeared, and then return after some time. He suspected that real healing always required a change in the inner attitude. So he developed five short principles for spiritual development, which he called “recommendations for a peaceful life”. These brief tenets were recited at Usui’s seminars and exchange meetings, as well as at his Japanese master students, at the beginning and end of each meeting. Today, there are different forms and manifestations of these rules of life.
Just for today, do not worry
Just for today, do not anger
Earn your living honestly
Honor your parents, teachers, and elders
Show gratitude to every living thing
This is the western version of The Reiki Alliance, which I also learned during my attunements. A variation wich I use today is:
Just for today, I will let go of worry
Just for today, I will let go of anger
Today I will do my work honestly
Today, I will honor my parents,
teachers, and elders
Today, I will be kind to every
